Manchester United star Marcus Rashford explains why he has improved under Erik ten Hag
Speaking in an interview as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has explained why he has improved under Dutch tactician Erik ten Hag and what has changed since last season.
The 25-year-old striker struggled for form last season unable to play like he once used to. It was a very poor personal season for the Englishman who missed the first half of the season with an injury that kept him out.
Rashford did not have a proper pre-season behind him and he just looked like he was not up for it at all last season. He struggled to get into games and did not really look 100% fit and ready to start games on a regular basis.
However, all that has changed since the arrival of Erik ten Hag. Rashford looks like a player reborn under the Dutch tactician and has impressed one and all with his displays for Man United this season in all competitions.
The English superstar has played 18 times for the Red Devils this season across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing three assists. These are pretty good numbers and already better than what Rashford managed last campaign.
Speaking about what changed under the Dutch coach, Rashford has said that the attitude with which Ten Hag wants his team to play games is a major role in his transformation.
“The playing style we have created, better quality chances, and we are playing forward-thinking football. He likes possession, but he is also in favour of us going for the kill – and that’s what I am all about. I am enjoying my time under him, and hopefully, we can carry it on”
Rashford has a contract with Man United until 2023 (Transfermarkt) but the Red Devils have the option to extend it by one year. Regardless, the club will be looking to extend his contract and keep him at the club for a longer period.
The English superstar has also been selected for the World Cup squad this campaign. He will be hoping to impress Gareth Southgate and gain a starting role in the team in the showpiece event in Qatar.
