Olympique Lyon right-back Malo Gusto being linked with Manchester United ahead of January
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Olympique Lyon right-back Malo Gusto ahead of the January transfer window, according to Sports Illustrated (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils are looking for a possible deal with the Ligue 1 outfit for the 19-year-old ahead of the winter. However, the France U21 international is attracting interest from a number of clubs around Europe.
The youngster could be an ideal option for the Old Trafford side, considering the seeming lack of competition for the full-back position. But unfortunately, the Manchester-based club are unlikely to have a free run at his signature.
Diogo Dalot is the current first choice under Erik ten Hag. The Portugal international has cemented his place in the starting lineup with his performances this season.
This has resulted in Aaron Wan-Bissaka falling out of favour at United. The former Crystal Palace star has seen his opportunities dwindle since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Gusto came up through the youth teams at Lyon. And the 19-year-old managed to break into the French outfit’s starting lineup in the previous campaign. He made 37 appearances for Les Gones in all competitions, providing five assists.
The France U21 international has once again been important for Lyon this term. He has featured 13 times in Ligue 1 under Peter Bosz, who was sacked in October, and Laurent Blanc.
Dalot has started every game for United under the Dutch manager. On the other hand, Wan-Bissaka has played just four minutes of competitive football this season.
