Manchester United are interested in Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic and Red Bull Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United’s unbeaten run of nine games came to a standstill with an embarrassing 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa.

One of the most notable reasons behind the defeat were the lack of attacking options available to Erik ten Hag with Antony and Jadon Sancho injured and Bruno Fernandes suspended for the game.

It is an issue which has been pretty evident since the start of the season where our attacking department is lacking the desired outcome as one would have expected.

With Cristiano Ronaldo turning 38 soon and would in most probability leave the club come the end of the season and the injury issues with Anthony Martial, there is no proper No. 9 at the club which can lead the frontline for years to come.

Hence, United are looking at different targets to solve the issue and according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) (h/t Manchester Evening News), the club are looking at Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic and RB Salsburg’s Benjamin Sesko.

Both players have established themselves as formidable strikers and with age also on their side, there is the potential to lead the line for a big club such as United for years to come.

Vlahovic took Serie A by storm with his spell at Fiorentina where he scored an impressive 49 goals in 108 appearances for the club. His magnificent performances drew the attention of giants Juventus and he made the switch to Turin.

The move to Juventus has not materialised ideally in the manner in which both the Serbian and the club would have wanted as Juventus have been really struggling under Massimiliano Allegri and are already out of the UEFA Champions League.

With other Serie A teams in a better position than Juventus, a slip to UEFA Europa League could potentially provide an opportunity for United to scoop in for the striker.

Sesko, on the other hand, is one of the most hyped talents to come out of the Austrian club and has already seen comparisons to Manchester City forward Erling Haaland for his big stature and way of play.

Although RB Salzburg’s sister club RB Leipzig have already announced the signing of Sesko for the next season, many claims that due to the impressive form shown by the teenager with his club and nation, there is a high chance that one of the top clubs would come and try to persuade the striker.

It remains to be seen whether United would prioritise going for a striker in the winter transfer window or wait for other attainable targets and strike in the summer transfer window. For now, one thing is clear which is that we are in need of a top forward who can lead our line for years to come.
