LOSC Lille forward Jonathan David being monitored by Manchester United ahead of World Cup
Manchester United are monitoring LOSC Lille forward Jonathan David ahead of the Qatar World Cup, according to GIVEMESPORT (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 22-year-old is seemingly likely to feature for Canada in the prestigious tournament that commences later this month. Apart from the Red Devils, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are keeping an eye on him.
David is seen in high regard by the Ligue 1 outfit and has turned many heads with his performances in the last few campaigns. The French club have put a price tag of around £40 million for the 22-year-old’s signature.
The Canadian moved to Lille in the summer of 2020 from KAA Gent in Belgium. Since then, he has been a key figure for Les Dogues. The forward has taken big strides in his time in France.
In the current campaign, David has been consistent for the French outfit. The 22-year-old has found the back of the net nine times and provided three assists in 14 Ligue 1 fixtures.
Canada have qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 36 years. The Lille star was pivotal in their quest for a place in Qatar. In 34 caps, the striker has scored 22 goals for the Reds.

United currently evidently have a dearth of number nines in the squad. Cristiano Ronaldo has not performed up to standards in the current campaign. And the Portuguese has not featured as much either under Erik ten Hag.
On the other hand, Anthony Martial has been plagued by various injuries in the current campaign. As a result, the French national has been on the sidelines more often than not in the 2022/23 season.
