Eric Choupo-Moting being ‘seriously’ considered by Manchester United for January transfer
Manchester United are ‘seriously interested’ in signing Bayern Munich forward Eric Choupo-Moting in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have enquired about the possibility of getting the Cameroon international in the winter. With Cristiano Ronaldo’s future in Manchester seemingly uncertain, the 33-year-old is a candidate to replace him.
However, a deal could be complicated for the club to pull off. Choupo-Moting is keen on staying with the Bundesliga giants. The German club will start talks on a new contract with the striker after the World Cup.

The Cameroon international has been in fine form this season for Bayern. He has scored in his last seven consecutive games for the Bavarians in all competitions.
Choupo-Moting scored twice against Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga giants’ last fixture. The game ended 3-2 in the German champions’ favour.
The 33-year-old has been impressive in the Champions League as well. He scored against Barcelona and Inter Milan in the group stages as Bayern finished in the first place. They will face Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16.
Ronaldo has not had the best of campaigns under Erik ten Hag. The Portugal international has only recently been given consecutive starts in the Premier League. At the start of the season, the Dutch manager mostly used the 37-year-old as a substitute.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s antics against Tottenham Hotspur did not help his cause either. Subsequently, the forward was left out of the squad for the Premier League game against Chelsea in the league.
However, to some people’s surprise, Ronaldo was handed the captain’s armband against Aston Villa in the absence of Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire. Unfortunately, the Portuguese star put in an underwhelming performance.
