Erik ten Hag happy with Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo after West Ham United clash
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was delighted with the shift Cristiano Ronaldo put in against West Ham United on Sunday (30 October) in the Premier League. The Portugal international started up front for the Red Devils against the Hammers.
The 37-year-old had a few chances in the game, but nothing came out of them in the end. However, the five-time Ballon d’Or did not leave spectators disappointed with his work rate.
In the end, a strike from Marcus Rashfoord in the first half made the difference for the Manchester-based club. The 25-year-old got on the end of a cross from Christian Eriksen and placed a Bullet header past Lukasz Fabianski in the back of the net.
Man United beat West Ham 1-0 after an impressive showing from the whole team to keep the Hammers at Bay. David Moyes’ team upped the pressure in the final quarter hour of the match. However, the Red Devils managed to defend their lead.
Ronaldo played the full 90 minutes against West Ham. It was only the 37-year-old’s second full game in the PL this season. The Portugal international has not had the best of ties under the former Ajax head coach.
Speaking after the win to Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ten Hag was happy with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s display on Sunday.
“I think he did quite well. (He did) what we expect; lead the pressing.”
Ronaldo found himself out of the squad in the previous league match against Chelsea. The Portugal international was left out of the travelling squad to Stamford Bridge after his antics in the Tottenham Hotspur game.
In nine appearances in the PL this season, the 37-year-old got his third start against the London Stadium side. The forward has just bagged one goal against Everton in the English top flight in the current campaign.

Some fans have argued that Ronaldo does not fit into Ten Hag’s system due to his lack of forward pressing. However, the 37-year-old showed against West Ham that he is capable of working for the team.
