Inter Milan and Argentina striker Lautaro Martinez being considered by Manchester United
Manchester United are considering a move for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, according to Football365 (h/t Manchester Evening News). The Red Devils are seemingly in need of a goalscorer.
Erik ten Hag has relied on Marcus Rashford for most of the season as the number nine. The England international recently scored his 100th goal for the club against West Ham United.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been relegated to a role on the bench under the Dutch manager. The Portugal international has had to come on as a substitute in a majority of Premier League matches in the current campaign.
Thus, Martinez is a name the Old Trafford side are keeping an eye on. The Argentine is one of the Nerazzurri’s most important players and is valued at around £70 million.
Chelsea are also interested in the 25-year-old. The Blues see the forward as a long-term option, with current striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, signed from Barcelona in the recent transfer window, considered a short-term fix.
Martinez signed for Inter in the summer of 2018 from the Argentine outfit Racing Club. Since then, the 25-year-old has developed his game and become one of the best strikers in Serie A.
The forward has been exceptional for the Italian club in the 2022/23 campaign. In 17 appearances in all competitions, he has found the back of the net seven times and provided four assists.
Inter have been brilliant in the Champions League and managed to qualify from the group stages at the expense of Barcelona. Marinez put on a show in the second fixture against the Blaugrana at Camp Nou, grabbing a goal and an assist in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

While Rashford has evidently found his feet under Ten Hag, some fans feel the 25-year-old is not clinical enough. The England international is a natural winger. Thus, a player like Martinez is someone supporters would not mind at the club.
