Erik ten Hag ‘shocked’ by Manchester United fan support during Cristiano Ronaldo saga
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been shocked by the fan support he received during the Cristiano Ronaldo saga, according to the Independent (h/t Express).
The 37-year-old gave a controversial interview to Piers Morgan that led to his exit. In the sit down with the British broadcaster, the Portugal international stated that he did not respect the Dutch manager.
Subsequently, the Old Trafford side mutually terminated the former Real Madrid star’s deal in November. He has now joined Saudi Arabian outfit Al Nassr.

Ronaldo wanted a move away from United in the summer of 2022. The likes of Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Premier League rivals Chelsea were being linked with the 37-year-old.
However, he ended up staying in Manchester, although not for long. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner saw his influence in the team decline under Ten Hag.
While in the previous campaign, the Portuguese star was the first name on the Red Devils’ team sheet, he spent the majority of his time on the bench with the arrival of the former Ajax head coach.
United are going strong at the moment. We have won our last eight games in all competitions. The Red Devils will come up against Manchester City next in the league.
In the reverse fixture, the Old Trafford side lost 6-3. In that match, Ronaldo was an unused substitute. The incident seemingly started the chain of events that led to the 37-year-old’s exit.

The fans have backed Ten Hag and the gaffer has repaid that faith. What the Portuguese star did was unacceptable. Hopefully, his exit will start a new successful era at the club.
At the moment, we are still alive in all four competitions. With a win over Guardiola’s team, United will be just one point behind them in the league.
