Manchester United did not move on Hirving Lozano after being offered his services in the recent transfer window
Napoli forward Hirving Lozano was offered to Manchester United in the recent transfer window, but the Red Devils did not make a move on him. In the end, the Mexican stayed put in Naples.
Lozano joined Napoli in the summer of 2019 from PSV Eindhoven. The 27-year-old is one of the best prospects to come out of the North American nation. And the forward has been a key member of the Serie A outfit’s squad.
However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has stated via Caught Offside (h/t Manchester Evening News) that the Red Devils had an opportunity to get Lozano. However, the Old Trafford side did not put in a bid for the Mexican.
“I’m told Hirving Lozano was offered to Manchester United, nothing else. They never made any bid to Napoli.
“The situation is really quiet, he’s happy at Napoli now; I think his price tag could be around €20-25m (£17.5m-21.9m).”
Napoli are currently first in the Italian top flight. Luciano Spalletti’s team are unbeaten in all competitions this season. They have beaten Liverpool and Ajax convincingly in the Champions League group stages.
Lozano has featured 10 times for Napoli in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Although, the 27-year-old has mostly come on as a substitute in recent weeks.
Depth on United’s wings
United seemingly needed to reinforce their forward line in the summer of 2022. Erik ten Hag had inherited an underwhelming attack. Only Cristiano Ronaldo had performed up to standards last season.
The likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial could not make an impact in the previous campaign for the Red Devils. However, the Dutch manager has managed to get them back in form again.
United signed Antony from Ajax. The former Eredivisie star was the second player to reunite with Ten Hag in Manchester in the recent transfer window. And the Brazilian has made a difference, scoring consecutively in his first three Premier League appearances.

Lozano is a talented winger. However, United evidently have decent strength in depth for the wide positions in attack. Thus, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will pursue the Mexican’s signature in the future.
