Erik ten Hag and Manchester United chiefs at loggerheads over potential Frenkie de Jong and Jude Bellingham deals

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is in disagreement with club chiefs over potential deals for Frenkie de Jong and Jude Bellingham. Both are of interest to the Old Trafford side.

However, the Dutch head coach is keen on the Barcelona midfielder. But the hierarchy want the young star from Borussia Dortmund, according to the Independent [h/t Express].

And this poses a dilemma for United, as finances prohibit the arrival of both De Jong and Bellingham. This could put the manager and the board at loggerheads.

Ten Hag was interested in bringing the Holland international to Manchester in the recent transfer window. The two had been together at Ajax. And the gaffer sees the 25-year-old as ‘virtually irreplaceable’ in his system.

On the other hand, the United hierarchy have their sights set on the Dortmund youngster. The Red Devils have been watching Bellingham since his Birmingham City days. And club chiefs see the 19-year-old England international as a ‘potentially generational talent’.

Bellingham over De Jong?

United’s current midfield consists of the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Bekk, who have not convinced fans. The trio have not been consistent enough to cement a starting berth in the team.

The Red Devils did, however, evidently add quality and experience to the middle of the park in the sume window of 2022 with the signings of Christia Eriksen and Casemiro.

United have not started any game this season without the Denmark international on the pitch. And the Brazilian is slowly but surely finding his feet under the new boss. Casemiro put in a Man of The Match performance for the Old Trafford side against Everton in our last Premier League fixture.

De Jong and Bellingham are two players any top side would be lucky to have. However, United supporters would prefer to buy the English youngster considering his displays in recent weeks.
