Erik ten Hag believes Antony showcased his best yet for Manchester United vs Everton
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag thinks Antony had his best game in a red shirt against Everton at Goodison Park. The Dutch manager was impressed by the recent summer signing’s display in the 2-1 win on 9 October.
Alex Iwobi opened the scoring for the home side in the fifth minute. However, Antony levelled the scoring at the quarter-hour mark with a brilliant finish past Jordan Pickford. The Brazilian has now scored consecutively in his first three Premier League games for the Red Devils.
United ended up winning the game 2-1. And speaking after the fixture via Metro, Ten Hag admitted Antony has had his ups and downs with the Red Devils. However, the Dutch manager claimed it was Antony’s finest game so far in Manchester.
“I was quite [confident] that he could straight away have an impact, and in the first games he has had his good moments, he had his bad moments, but I think today he played his best game so far.”
Antony had a fiery start to his United career. Ten Hag gave the 22-year-old his debut with a start against Arsenal. The Gunners had been perfect up until that point. However, the Brazilian spoiled the North London side’s party as he scored the first goal in a 3-1 victory for the Red Devils.
Since then, the Brazilian has started in every game for United. Ten Hag seems to have faith in his former Ajax star. However, the 22-year-old has been a bit underwhelming.
Fans have felt Antony could contribute more to the Red Devils’ play. While the Brazilian did score a long-range beauty against Manchester City, his defensive contribution came into question as the Old Trafford side lost 6-3.
Antony’s impact in the UEFA Europa League has not been as apparent as in the English top flight. The 22-year-old’s displays in the European competition have not caught supporters’ eyes.

But Antony came out guns blazing as he showed what he was capable of against Frank Lampard’s team. Hopefully, the game helps the 22-year-old find his consistency in the PL.
