Transfer News: Manchester United set to hold new talks with Adrien Rabiot
Manchester United continue their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot as new talks will soon be held with his agent and mother Veronique. This is according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, who said there is already an agreement in place for a fee of €17/18million.
Rabiot has been earmarked by Erik ten Hag as he continues to build a team that can at least compete. The midfield was again very disappointing when United were trashed 4-0 by Brentford this Saturday.
Christian Eriksen and Fred were not good enough, while David de Gea had a howler of a performance. Lisandro Martinez was also very poor at the back.
The midfield is in dire need of being fixed. Scot McTominay and Fred are simply not good enough to start games for United. After pursuing Frenkie de Jong for the whole summer, Ten Hag has now finally shifted his focus to other players.
Rabiot joined Juventus in 2019. A regular there, he made 45 appearances last season in all competitions, recording two assists. Now both United and Juventus are said to have agreed to a fee worth €17/18 million for the midfielder.
The problem is negotiating personal terms. But Fabrizio now claims that a new round of talks will be held and all parties involved are confident that the deal will get done. Rabiot may not be as good as a player like De Jong, but he will likely be an update to the current midfield.
Fans will hope that a deal is done fast and it does not turn into another saga for them. The club is in desperate need of reinforcements and have very little time on their hands. Meanwhile, Ten Hag will wonder what has gone wrong for his side.
