Park Ji-Sung urges Manchester United to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min
According to an interview with Goal (h/t The Metro), former Manchester United star Park Ji-Sung has urged the club to sign Tottenham Hotspur ace Son Heung-min.
The 29-year-old is one of the best players in the English top-flight and one of Spurs’ best talents. Alongside Harry Kane, he is widely responsible for getting the Lilywhites frontline up and running. A difficult player to pin down, he could prove to be an excellent addition to a Man United side that is at times lacking in imagination.
Park certainly believes so. He went on to reveal that the South Korean ace has it within himself to impress at the Theatre of Dreams.
“He has already proved himself in the Premier League and I believe he’s good enough to do very well at United.”
He goes on to joke that the only downside Son could face by potentially joining Man United is to be denied his preferred number seven jersey. Held by Cristiano Ronaldo, the South Korean ace has a fat chance of getting it.
“The only minor issue would be he may not get his favourite No.7 shirt as Ronaldo is already there.”
Son is an able winger with a number of skills up his sleeve and is also a proven talent at the top level. But for now, it is fair to say that signing him is more or less fanciful. The fact that Park even names his as a possibility is a testament to the 29-year-old’s abilities.
Park spent seven years at Old Trafford, during which he established himself as a dependable player for Sir Alex Ferguson. He scored several key goals and was a testament to the strength in depth at the club in those years.
Son made 208 appearances for Man United, scoring 28 goals and assisting 29 more and was one of the first Asian players to make a name for himself in England. Park laid the path for others to follow in his stead.
No other player has taken to the Premier League quite like Son. With 114 goals and 67 assists in 299 games, Son has comfortably outperformed Park on English shores. There is little to suggest he would not improve a Man United side looking to establish themselves as a top side once again.

Son would be an incredible signing who will add much to Ralf Rangnick’s side. Not only is the South Korean tactically and technically proficient but also ready to do the hard work. He has all the ingredients needed to become a modern-day Red Devils great. Unfortunately, he already appears to have hitched his fortunes to Tottenham instead.
