Ralf Rangnick praises Manchester United star Dean Henderson following his performance against Young Boys

According to The Mirror, Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick has been left impressed by Red Devils star Dean Henderson.

The Englishman served as the second-choice goalkeeping choice and has to start just four games in all competitions this campaign. While he may not have a clean sheet on the night, Henderson’s performance hit the right spot with the German manager.

With progress in the UEFA Champions League already guaranteed, Rangnick rested the big guns on the night against Young Boys. The youthful Man United side did well and had Henderson to thank for their share of the spoils. The 24-year-old rose to the challenge time and again, keeping the visitors from breaching the defence for a second time at the Theatre of Dreams.

Ralf Rangnick is now Manchester United’s interim manager.

Rangnick certainly was full of praise for his shot-stopper and praised him for the showing in the post-match presser. While it is still early days under the new management, it serves well to strike a chord with those in charge of the club.

“He was very proactive, very present.”

The Man United boss believes Henderson also came close to keeping out Young Boys’ equalizer on the night. While it was ultimately unsuccessful, Rangnick is slightly in awe that the player even got as close as he eventually did to keep it out.

“I think he almost even saved the ball that was the equaliser for Young Boys. It was only very little, one or two centimetres, that he would even save that ball.”

While it is still early days, Rangnick’s comments should prove to be inspirational to Henderson. The Englishman has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent weeks. With the winter transfer window coming up, whether he has a shot of displacing De Gea as the club’s number one remains to be seen.

Henderson lasted 68 minutes on the night before being replaced by Tom Heaton. If anything, it shows that Rangnick is keen to take a look at all the players under his purview. Henderson will do well to consider the current situation as an audition and impresses whenever he is handed the ball.
