Some Manchester United fans react as Harry Maguire guides England to victory against Albania in World Cup qualifiers
According to the club’s official Twitter account, Manchester United star Harry Maguire helped England win against Albania in the World Cup qualifiers.
The United captain was called up to duty as usual during the international break. Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw were also potential candidates but withdrew due to their respective fitness issues.
The Three Lions drew against Hungary last month, making their upcoming games against Albania and San Marino crucial for qualification to the World Cup in 2022. They have made a positive first step up in the process as they defeated Albania 5-0 at Wembley.
Harry Maguire was the only United player in the starting line-up, and the defender made it count. After just 8 minutes on the clock, the men in white got a free kick in a favourable area. Reece James whipped in a tempting cross at the back post, and Maguire headed home emphatically.
Harry Kane bagged a hattrick on the night while Jordan Henderson also got onto the scoresheet. However, the United centre-back would have been pleased with his performance.
The 28-year-old has often been found guilty at the back for us this season. His mistakes against Leicester City, Liverpool, and Atalanta put the club in a real fix, and he needed a confidence booster.
Moreover, with Raphael Varane out with injury for a month, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs one of his top men to step up.
