Transfer News: Newcastle United join Manchester United to secure the signing of Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic
According to the latest transfer news on The Sun (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United have been joined by Newcastle United to sign Inter Milan ace Marcelo Brozovic.
A fine servant for the Nerazzurri over the last half a decade, the Croatian international has made over 250 appearances for the San Siro outfit and has managed to score 25 goals and provide 34 assists in the same period.
His prominence in the midfield line became clear last season as he was the lynchpin for everything good that came out of the league winning Inter side under Antonio Conte. He has not dropped a level under successor Simone Inzaghi either but could now be heading for the exit door.
Brozovic is in the final year of his contract and could run it down and join another club next summer. Newcastle are linked with the player as they are set for a massive summer expenditure, post their recent takeover by the Saudi-backed organization.
Moreover, the proposition of the 28-year-old becoming available on a free transfer at the end of this season is one they cannot let go of. However, this shall be a blow for Man United, who are also plotting a move to sign the Croat.
Paul Pogba might depart on the expiry of his contract in the summer of 2022, and reinforcements may be due. Moreover, it is thought that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer views the Inter star as the ideal replacement to the outgoing Frenchman.

But the Red Devils will have to fight tooth and nail to secure the player’s transfer, especially if the Magpies offer him a massive salary due to the club’s recent cash injection.
Thus, it will be down to the Old Trafford outfit to lure the midfielder to Manchester and add to the star-studded quality in their ranks.
