David Moyes seeking over £100m for Manchester United target Declan Rice
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News), West Ham United manager David Moyes has explained that signing Declan Rice will cost Manchester United over £100million in transfer fee.
The 22-year-old has developed into a top-class midfielder over the last couple of years and has caught the eye of several high-end clubs in the process. A key member for the Hammers, Rice continues to impress for them week in week out.
While he has always shown potential, his mature displays with England at the Euros this summer indicated that he can do a decent job at the top level of the game.
Manchester United are said to have placed the midfielder on top of their priority list next summer. This comes after failing to land a deal for him in the last transfer window as West Ham held firm on a £100million fee.
David Moyes has now revealed that the aforementioned fee was in fact a bargain for the Englishman. The East London outfit will now demand more if any club wishes to secure Rice’s signature.
“There was a bargain to be got with Declan at £100million. That bargain has now gone.”
The lack of a midfield anchor has cost United dearly in recent months. It was on display last night as the Red Devils fell prey to a marauding Liverpool side at Old Trafford.
Rice has Premier League experience and will only grow in stature. He might very well be the missing piece in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United squad.

The Red Devils are actively looking to bring a midfielder into the side and given that Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba could depart the club by the end of the 2022/23 season. Getting in a replacement who not only has Premier League experience but has his best years ahead of him would be a genius move.
However, unless the Old Trafford outfit are ready to shell out the big bucks, Rice’s future might be in East London or any other club that wishes to complete a blockbuster transfer for him.
