The 21-year-old has been one of the Hammers’ best performers in what has been a largely poor season. Calling the 21-year-old the best defensive midfielder in the country, Moyes went on to state that the youngster can only get better (h/t Daily Mail).
The Norwegian had sent his personal scout to watch the midfielder against Sheffield in January. (h/t Daily Mail)
The 21-year-old will however not come cheap and West Ham have placed a price of £80 million on the youngster.
Rice extended his West Ham contract just 14 months ago and this will leave the Hammers in a strong position come negotiations.
The Red Devils sold Marouane Fellaini in the summer and Nemanja Matic isn’t getting any older. Signing Rice would give us a young but experienced player who can play a key role in the club’s rebuild.
Being English, Rice will also add to the homegrown quota of players. United are keen on strengthening the midfield and have been with the likes of Jack Grealish and James Maddison.
