Manchester United keen on signing £100m-rated West Ham star in the summer

Transfer News: Manchester United want to sign Declan Rice in the summer

According to transfer news from Metro, Manchester United want Declan Rice of West Ham in the summer. It has been said that Solskjaer and the senior management are in agreement over this transfer and want to bring him in.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a number of options to choose from in midfield. This includes the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek, Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic. Of these, Pogba could be gone next summer and Matic is not getting any younger.

Fred looks unreliable in all honesty. While Van de Beek may yet come good, he has so far struggled to make his opportunities count. In Rice, United would be getting a young yet seasoned performer well acquainted with the league.

The 22-year-old Rice has been a key part of the West Ham side that finds itself challenging for a top-four spot. He has led from the front and has shown both leadership and ability despite being so young. Capable of also playing at centre-back, the Hammers star would be an ideal addition to the squad.

Apparently, West Ham value the player at £100million but Moyes believes he is worth more. Rice will likely cost an amount close to that and it really remains to be seen if Solskjaer, John Murtough and Darren Fletcher act on their interest in the player in the future.

If they do get the player, it would be a great long-term move indeed.
