Transfer News: Manchester City to rival United for the signing of Denis Zakaria

According to transfer news from The Sun, Manchester City are set to rival United for the signing of Denis Zakaria. Both Manchester sides are now in the race to sign the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

It has been said that City enquired about the midfielder at the start of this season and are all set to revisit that interest this summer too. The Swiss has become one of the best emerging talents in the Bundesliga, making 24 appearances this season.

He has been at the heart of the midfield for Gladbach as they made their way into the Champions League last 16. In the defeats to City, Zakaria gave a good account of himself, which has left both City and United interested.

United will look at Zakaria as a replacement for Matic who is slowly ageing and cannot provide the same sort of protection he once did. City, on the other hand, view him as a successor to Fernandinho for similar reasons.

We could see them go head to head for his signature in the summer as he has just one year remaining in his current deal and could be offloaded on the cheap. United have to hurry if they are to steal a march on their neighbours in the race for Zakaria.
