Transfer News: Raphael Varane keeps his options open for Manchester United move
According to transfer news from Mundo Deportivo (h/t Express), Raphael Varane has kept his options open with Manchester United linked to the player. There has been a lot of speculation over his future as his contract is set to end in 2022 and no talk of an extension has come up.
The 27-year-old has formed the bedrock of Los Blancos’ defence alongside skipper Sergio Ramos for a number of years. With his contract expiring in 2022, a decision on his future has to be made sooner than later. Soon to be 28, Varane has won everything possible with Real Madrid.
The Red Devils are searching for a centre-back partner for Harry Maguire, with Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof playing there currently. Varane was a player United have kept tabs on for a long time. The situation surrounding the player is akin to the events of 2019 where Varane was linked away from the Bernabeu.
“I am not going to state the obvious, I have already expressed myself a lot on the subject. I think it has already been said and the situation has not changed. I am two days away from an international match with the national team, I am concentrating on that. I don’t want to answer that question on my future.”
