Manchester United refuse to meet release clause for Lautaro Martinez
Manchester United have refused to meet the release clause for prolific Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, according to Times (h/t Daily Mail).
The Argentine hotshot’s release clause in a mammoth £94million, which will make him United’s most expensive signing. United have been overly reliant on Marcus Rashford this season after failing to replace Romelu Lukaku last summer.
With the English international out injured, the Red Devils were forced to secure the loan signing of former Watford striker Odion Ighalo to shore up the attack.
Martinez is in his second season at Inter and has gone from strength to strength.
The 22-year-old Argentine moved to the Italian giants from Racing Club in 2018. He has been prolific this season, netting 16 goals and one assist in 27 appearances.
United have recently sold Lukaku and Asley Young to Inter, while also loaning them Alexis Sanchez.
Manchester City and Real Madrid are also keen on Martinez, who is just 22 years old. Barcelona are a threat too if we are to sign the youngster. (h/t Daily Mail)
