Gary Neville believes Jadon Sancho is a ‘victim’ at Manchester United amidst poor form
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United legend Gary Neville has claimed that Jadon Sancho is a victim at Manchester United amidst the youngster’s poor form.
The 21-year-old completed his return to Manchester earlier this summer, but the Man City academy graduate decided to join the red half of the city. Regardless, the fact that United shelled out £73million indicated the levels of his talent and potential.
However, the Old Trafford outfit are yet to reap the dividends on that investment as the Englishman has not provided a single goal contribution in 10 games. The game against Leicester City was no different as Sancho produced a lacklustre hour of football before being called off for Marcus Rashford.
Gary Neville has now come out to defend the former Borussia Dortmund man and has claimed that the youngster is a victim at United. Neville told Sky Sports (h/t The Mirror):
“Sancho, at this moment, he’s a victim of the current performances of the team. You’d like a player like that to come into a settled unit, and he’s just still finding his feet. I did think he played well in the last 20 minutes against Everton a couple of weeks ago.
“He shouldn’t be the focus point of any criticism at this moment in time. Of course, you’re going to get criticism as a United player signed for that level of money, but again that would be a distraction.”

The competition for the attacking spots at the Manchester-based outfit is quite high, and it is only going to get harder to justify selecting Sancho, especially after Rashford found the back of the net on the weekend.
Regardless, Sancho is still young and could still get a lot of minutes this season to prove his quality and mettle and rightfully earn a place in the starting line-up.
