Transfer News: Manchester United star Nemanja Matic is on the radar of Barcelona
According to The Sun (h/t The Metro), Barcelona are weighing up a bargain transfer to sign Manchester United star Nemanja Matic.
The Catalan club suffered this season as they are currently sitting outside the Top 4 of the La Liga table and are yet to score in the UEFA Champions League so far.
Letting go a superstar like Lionel Messi could have that kind of an effect, but they are ready to make additions to their squad now. The Nou Camp outfit are eyeing a deal for Manchester United star Nemanja Matic.
The Serbian is viewed as a ‘dependable’ addition who can play an integral role in the squad while also ‘guide’ the club’s youngsters. Ronald Koeman has a lot of youthful stars at his beckoning but is lacking experience.
Although Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets remain regulars in this team, Matic could only add more experience and quality. In fact, they are plotting a cut-price deal for him for a fee in the region of £10million, given that he only has 18 months left on his current contract at Old Trafford.
Regardless, there is no certainty whether United themselves will be open to this move. The Red Devils have struggled to add quality in their midfield line over the years, with Bruno Fernandes being the last midfielder to be brought in.

Moreover, Matic has featured at least 34 times across the course of every season at the Manchester-based club since he made the move in 2017. Thus, he is clearly a valuable player for them.
Unless Ole Gunnar Solskjaer manages to bring in another midfielder in the near future, it does not make sense to let go of an experienced midfielder, especially when the Norwegian boss is on the hunt for major titles.
