Manchester United ace Nemanja Matic urges for more game-time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after making only 2 League starts

Speaking to the United Review (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United ace Nemanja Matic reveals that he is ready to play more often under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after being handed only 2 league starts this season.

Although a far more prominent figure in the midfield line under Jose Mourinho, Matic has been in and out of the team under Solskjaer and has received minimal game-time this season. The Serbian has only played 322 minutes of football this season across all competitions.

Donny van de Beek is another player who has been at the end of minimal minutes as he is yet to start a league game this season, and the Dutchman is now linked with an exit in January. However, while the former Ajax man could exit in the winter window, Matic is ready to stake his claim in this United side.

The 33-year-old has opened up about his lack of minutes and how he is willing to play more under Solskjaer this season. Matic told the United review (h/t Manchester Evening News):

“I think I’m playing well every time I have the chance. Physically, I feel great. Of course, you always want to play more and more, but the manager is the man who decides. I am always ready to play. I am happy to play, to help my team, and, yeah, I feel good.

“I had a fantastic pre-season, a full pre-season from day one. I am happy and motivated for the rest of the season.”

United’s fixture schedule post the international break is jam-packed, and there could be minutes for everybody, including Matic.

The Serbian international will be hoping to contribute more to this team in the future and lift a major trophy in the next two years before his contract expires in 2023.
