Jamie O’Hara is surprised that Manchester United star Mason Greenwood is not in the England squad
According to an interview done on talkSPORT (h/t Express), Jamie O’Hara has slammed England manager Gareth Southgate for not selecting Manchester United ace Mason Greenwood.
Greenwood, who ended last year in good form, has picked up right where he left off. The 19-year-old has scored in all three Premier League games for the Red Devils, with his last goal coming against Wolves last weekend, securing all 3 points in the process.
The Englishman is also one of the highest-scoring teenagers in the history of the league and certainly looks the part this year. This has led to former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara questioning Gareth Southgate in regards to not selecting Greenwood for the World Cup qualifiers during the international break.
He told talkSPORT (h/t The Express):
“There is a ready-made superstar in Mason Greenwood. Why is he not playing for England?”
O’Hara went on to explain how important it is to select the youngster, especially with the World Cup in a years’ time.
“You’re playing against Andorra. You know these games are coming up – give that man the games that he needs so we can get him ready for when the World Cup comes around because he’s the ready-made superstar in the making. I look at Mason Greenwood, and I just think, that boy is a superstar talent – ready to be made into one”.

Southgate chose to go a different way during these qualifiers as he chose the likes of Patrick Bamford, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling & Bukayo Saka.
Only time will tell whether Greenwood does go on to feature in Southgate’s plans for the future as the 19-year-old would also want to feature for the Three Lions at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
