Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire sounds out a warning to Premier Leaue rivals
Speaking to the Youtube channel UMM (h/t Express), Manchester United skipper, Harry Maguire has sent out a warning to the club’s Premier League rivals as the 2021/22 season starts to take shape.
The Red Devils enjoyed an excellent summer that saw them bring in Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo apart from Tom Heaton. The quartet adds needed quality and strength in depth to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
The Norwegian is now in his third full season at Old Trafford but only has a Europa League final appearance to show for his efforts. With a proper team now under his disposal, expectations are high for this campaign.
Maguire appears to be one of the optimists and believes the club is on the right track. Since joining the club in 2019, the Englishman has experienced numerous close calls, especially in cup competitions.
He, however, remains confident that despite those setbacks, there is clear progression to be seen at the Theatre of Dreams. The day may not be far when winning trophies are once again a regular occurrence at United.
“I feel like over the last couple of years, we’ve progressed so much.”
A front-row seat to success!
Maguire, issuing a warning to United’s rivals, goes on to add that this progression is clearly visible on the field where the Red Devils have started to dominate games again. While the progress may be slow, there is hope that sustained success is just around the corner.
“If we improve like we have done in the past two years over the next year or two, we’ll be where we want to be.”
The 28-year-old English international is one of United’s top players. His absence was keenly felt last season in the Europa League final against Villarreal. Now back and raring to go, Maguire will look to make amends this time around. One could argue that he will have a key role to play in any success we may have this season.
