Solskjaer reveals he told Manchester United star Paul Pogba to enjoy himself against Leeds United
According to The Express, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he demanded Paul Pogba to go out and enjoy himself in the season opener against Leeds United earlier today.
The message appears to have been heard loud and clear. The Frenchman made four assists on the night and was hovering inches off the grass throughout the duration of the match. It was one of Pogba’s best performances in a red shirt.
The performances come in the midst of rumours linking the player to Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 giants have already enjoyed a sensational summer and landing Pogba would be the icing on the cake.
“Today’s message was just about: go out and enjoy yourself.”
Pogba has just under 12 months to go on his United contract and looks no closer to signing an extension. It is performances such as today that illustrate the important role he has to play in the club’s fortunes. If anything, today is a reminder of why we need to go all out to keep him at the club for the remainder of his prime.
“Today we just gave him the freedom overall, to go wherever he wanted to go. We wanted him to get on the ball.”
The midfielder maestro’s performance and fitness levels appear to have left an impression on Solskjaer. He was thoroughly excited by the performance and believes the player capable of conjuring something out of nothing.
“Paul is one of those players who can create something out of nothing.”
When on form, Pogba is amongst the best players in world football. There is little doubt regarding his quality and has often stepped up when needed. Whether he is now keen to reproduce his best for United or is putting up a show as a last hurrah remains to be seen.
