Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plays it coy regarding further Manchester United reinforcements this summer
According to The Metro, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to admit that the club’s summer transfer activity is done.
The Red Devils have enjoyed an excellent summer, bringing in three senior stars. While Tom Heaton is a glorified third-choice goalkeeper, both Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane are world-class players who go straight into the first XI. There is little doubt that the duo will vastly improve an already promising Red Devils side.
Varane was unavailable against Leeds and Tom Heaton was an unused substitute. Sancho made a brief cameo off the bench in a night that promised much going into the new campaign.
While Solskjaer’s comments far from guarantee the club making a new signing, he has not explicitly stated that the transfer business is done. There are still a few weeks left in the window and it remains to be been what will happen.
“I can’t say we’re going to do more.”
He does however claim that any more additions would be a bonus. A midfielder or a right-back would be a bonus and will give us enough strength in depth to fight on multiple fronts. We are slowly yet steadily putting together a team capable of winning trophies once again.
“You never know in football, but that would be a bonus.”
The Red Devils are also in the market for a centre-forward. However, that will have to wait until 2022. Whether Solskjaer is being honest in his assessment or trying to deflect attention from any work being done behind the scenes remains to be seen.
