Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides an injury update on Manchester United duo Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba ahead of Watford trip
Speaking in his pre-match press conference (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane are the only injury concerns for Manchester United ahead of their trip to Watford.
The Red Devils will return to action on Saturday as they face the 17th placed Watford. United have only won one of their last six league matches, and a victory on the weekend is necessary to get their season back on track.
We are already nine points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, and it needs to be shortened as soon as possible. Moreover, we need to go into the midweek Champions League game against Villarreal with confidence.
However, two players that might be out for both fixtures are Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba. Solskjaer revealed in his pre-match press conference that apart from the duo, there are only a few niggles and illness issues.
“This week has been really positive. There are a couple of doubts about illnesses and small niggles.”
Thankfully there does not appear to be any other serious injuries. Despite two key players being out, United have enough in their ranks to see off a struggling Watford side. Anything less than three points will only increase the pressure on Solskjaer.
“PAUL IS OUT FOR A WHILE, RAPHA IS OUT FOR A WHILE, APART FROM THAT, PLAYERS WILL BE COMING BACK IN THE NEAR FUTURE, SOME THIS WEEKEND, SOME IN THE WEEK, BUT THAT IS THE SAME FOR OTHER PLAYERS.”

Edinson Cavani was also going through a tendon issue, but it looks like the Uruguayan will be in the squad to face the Hornets. Luke Shaw also withdrew from the England squad due to a concussion, but the left-back could be in contention now.
However, Solskjaer needs to nail his selection choices. Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, and Jesse Lingard have been vying for game-time. But it remains to be seen whether any of the trio features on the day. The Old Trafford outfit have been better away from home this season, and the Norwegian will be hoping that is true for the upcoming weekend as well.
