Louis Saha suggests Manchester United should put Eduardo Camavinga transfer on hold
Speaking to GentinBet (h/t Express), Louis Saha advised Manchester United against making a transfer move for Eduardo Camavinga this summer.
The highly-rated 18-year-old Frenchman is in the last year of his contract. And United, along with PSG and Real Madrid, have shared an interest in the player through the course of this transfer window.
The Red Devils’ eagerness to sign him makes sense considering Paul Pogba is also in the last year of his contract. Like Camavinga, he has been linked with a move to PSG.
But Saha, who was a regular fixture in Manchester United’s squad for five years between 2003 and 2008, believes that this move would come too early for the teenage midfielder and cited the example of Renato Sanches.
United should bide their time
“I think the move to United might still be too early for him. We saw what happened with Renato Sanches when he made his first move to Bayern Munich – it was too early.”
He urged United to be patient with Camavinga, and added that there is no urgent need to sign him considering they have talented players at their own academy.
“He is obviously a talented player but United have a lot of talented players in their academy as well. I’m not 100 per cent convinced that it’s the right moment for United to make a move for him.”
At 18, it is questionable if he would be included in United’s starting XI straight away. Moreover, given the France international’s status as a regular starter at Rennes, it is unlikely he would be happy playing a reduced role.

Here, Saha’s comments do make sense. United have the likes of James Garner and Scott McTominay, players who can take care of our midfield in the near future. It wouldn’t hurt United to revisit their interest in Camavinga later on.
