Transfer News: Manchester United take Diogo Dalot decision amid AC Milan links

According to transfer news from CaughtOffside, Manchester United will decide the future of Diogo Dalot based on two factors. United are looking to add Kieran Trippier to their ranks and are waiting over a move. Then there was Alex Telles’ injury leaving Luke Shaw as the only other option at left-back. Unless these situations are cleared Dalot could be kept for the foreseeable future.

The 22-year-old Portuguese full-back spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at the San Siro, playing a part in Milan’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League. While he may not have been an automatic first-choice, he made 33 appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring twice and providing three assists.

Now, Dalot is scheduled to return to United after his holidays post the Euros. AC Milan have shown considerable interest in bringing back the youngster. However, their loan offer was rejected as United ponder over Dalot’s future.

This is because United are moving after Kieran Trippier. The 30-year-old Atletico Madrid defender is a name United wants and are basically waiting to see if they can sign him. Alex Telles was recently injured and could be out for a while. Both these factors are set to influence United’s decision in keeping Dalot for this season.

Provided United fail to land a new full-back, Dalot will likely play a part at United. He has shown that he can feature on both sides and can be adequate cover for Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka though the season. There is also a chance he heads out on loan.
