Ole Gunnar Solskjaer interview after new Manchester United contract
According to Mirror, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sent a warning to rival sides after his new Manchester United contract. The Norwegian laid down the gauntlet that his side are ready to challenge for the big prizes after his new contract was announced.
Over the two seasons that Solskjaer has been in charge, it has always felt like a case of so near yet so far. United have gotten so close to winning their first piece of silverware under the Norwegian, only to fall agonizingly short of it. Last season’s Europa League final loss hurt a lot due to that.
However, eyes are now on the new season. United have won and lost a game each in pre-season. However, amidst all that, Solskjaer was handed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2024. His current deal was set to end within a year.
Speaking after signing the new deal, Solskjaer laid out his ambitions for the foreseeable future.
“We’re here to win of course. I can’t say we’re delighted with what’s happened so far because we haven’t won anything, but still, like what I’ve just said, the progress is there and I feel the squad is in a much better place and I think we’re gradually getting there by just what we’re doing every single day. We haven’t got a trophy to show for it, but I think we feel stronger and ready for the next challenge.”
Solskjaer wants United to win trophies
Solskjaer then went on to challenge our rivals for the trophies on offer.
“Everyone knows the feeling I have for this club, and I am delighted to have signed this new contract. It is an exciting time for Manchester United, we have built a squad with a good balance of youth and experienced players that are hungry for success. I have a fantastic coaching team around me, and we are all ready to take that next step on our journey.
“Manchester United wants to be winning the biggest and best trophies and that’s what we are all striving for. We have improved, both on and off the pitch, and that will continue over the coming seasons. I can’t wait to get out in front of a packed Old Trafford and get this campaign started.”
