Declan Rice sends an enigmatic message to Manchester United star Jesse Lingard
According to Football.london, Declan Rice has sent an enigmatic message to Manchester United star Jesse Lingard on Instagram.
Lingard spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at West Ham United. Alongside Rice, he played a key role in the Hammers qualifying for Europe. While a string of late results saw them squander a top-four push, David Moyes’ side did well to finish in the top six.
Having missed out on the Euros, Lingard is currently taking part in pre-season preparations at Carrington. Declan Rice, who on the other hand was a part of the England squad, appears to be keeping tabs on his teammate’s progress.
West Ham remain hopeful that they can take Lingard back for next season, this time on a permanent basis. Moyes has an excellent opinion of the youngster and is hopeful that a reunion could be on the cards this summer.
Lingard managed to strike up a good friendship with Rice during his time in London. The relationship appears to have endured given their relationship on social media. Lingard posted a photo of himself in training with United coach Michael Carrick on Instagram and received a message from the West Ham star hinting at a potential reconciliation.
Given that Rice has been linked with a move to United, there is something that could bring joy to the Red Devils faithful. Whether it also involves Lingard going the other way remains to be seen.
As things stand, there appears to be little to suggest that Rice is hinting at a move to United. His comment saying “I see you” could very well hint at the pair playing a game of ‘hide and seek’ as much as angling for a move. We will wait for something more concrete before getting excited.
Rice was not the only English ace to comment on Lingard’s picture. Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish, another player on our radar, made a comment through his official handle.

Despite missing out on the call-up to the Euros, Lingard’s stock remains high and we could fetch a reasonable fee. Given the lack of opportunities he has suffered under Solskjaer, a move could very well prove to be a win-win for all parties included.
