Chelsea could make late offer for Manchester United target Raphael Varane

According to Metro, Chelsea are looking for a late swoop to sign Manchester United target Raphael Varane. The Blues have registered an interest in the Real Madrid defender despite everything pointing towards a move to Manchester United.

Manchester United have dived headfirst into the transfer market. Deals for Tom Heaton and Jadon Sancho are done. However, that does not mean United are done bringing in players. The club are pushing ahead bullishly for Real Madrid star Raphael Varane.

Real are in a bit of a spot, with Varane in the last year of his current deal. They will have to sell him this summer or for free in the next. United are hoping to take advantage of the same and sign the player who has been on their radar for a while.

Despite a €50m deal to United looking closer than ever, Chelsea could try to play spoilsport here. Thomas Tuchel’s side have made their interest known in the World Cup winner and are hoping to add a defender to their ranks.

While chances are low that Chelsea would hijack a deal for the player at this stage, one can never be too sure. United have lost a couple of names such as Pedro and Cesc Fabregas to Chelsea (h/t Football.london). The only thing we can do is try to wrap up a deal as soon as possible.
