Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo stance revealed amid Manchester United links

According to transfer news from Mirror, Cristiano Ronaldo will see out the remaining year of his deal amidst links to Manchester United. The Portuguese maverick is still one of the best in the game and United have been after him. However, he will remain at Juventus for at least another season.

The former United superstar is one of the best players in the history of the game. Despite turning 36, Ronaldo continues to impress and has scored 29 goals in 33 Serie A appearances for Juventus in an underwhelming season.

Ageing like fine wine

Ronaldo’s return is nothing new at this point, with the former star heavily expected to return to his stomping grounds again. He has had his frustrations with Juventus over the last few seasons, failing to win the coveted Champions League. There is also his contract which ends in 2022.

United have been heavily linked with their former talisman. However, he is likely to disappoint them for at least a year. The Juventus attacker will spend the last year of his contract at the club and will probably walk out on a free transfer next season (h/t Mirror). However, Juve are still expected to try and change his mind.

More Manchester United News

It’s not entirely a bad thing that United would miss out on Ronaldo. If one were to put aside the sentimental aspect, a deal for Ronaldo would hardly make sense. He may still be banging goals like a striker in his prime but the fact is that he is 36 and close to the final years of his career. United are building a young squad aided by some experienced heads and it would be a huge gamble to put Ronaldo in that picture.
