Manchester United manager Solskjaer hints at loan deals for several academy players

According to transfer news from the club’s official site, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that a few of the academy players will head out on loan. A number of the youngsters are training with the first-team currently and will feature in the preseason games. However, with the international players set to return later in the month, these academy players will head out on loan.

With the 2020/21 season now officially over after the Euros and Copa America, Manchester United have started work on the preparations for next season. Pre-season fixtures have been laid out and training has already started.

However, as one can expect, several of the first-team players who were a part of the Euros and Copa America are not present. Depending on when their teams ended the tournament, they have started or about to start their three week holidays.

Some youngsters will head out on loan next month

That has seen a number of young players from the academy called up to fill in the numbers as well as stake a claim for a spot in the side. Players like James Garner, Shola Shoretire, Anthony Elanga and several others have joined the training. They have been touted to play the five pre-season games United have scheduled.

However, Solskjaer went on to say that a few of these youngsters will head out on loan once the first-team players return (h/t official site).

“Gradually, more and more players from the Euros will join in. They’ll [the youngsters] get a taste of some football. Then roundabouts early August, some will go on loan. We’ve already lined up a few and some of them are still in discussions between us and the players about where is the best place to go.”

It is not clear which players will be heading out. For now, only Tahith Chong is scheduled to go to Birmingham City. Provided United sign more players, it is likely that some more of the youngsters will head out in search of game time. However, they will get a chance as early as 18th July against Derby to show their talent.
