Transfer News: Manchester United left with limited budget after Jadon Sancho deal
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United are left with a limited budget after signing Jadon Sancho. United are still actively pursuing two more signings in midfield and defence but they are having trouble stumping up the money required for those deals.
It has taken a year but Manchester United finally have their man. United and Borussia Dortmund agreed on a deal in principle for the transfer of Jadon Sancho. He will set back United by a cool £72.6million from their transfer budget.
Naturally, that has put a sizable deficit in United’s funds for the summer. United are still trying to get a defender and midfielder before the season starts to bolster some of the key areas of the squad. The club want Raphael Varane and Eduardo Camavinga for those positions.
However, with Sancho’s deal to pay off, Varane and Camavinga’s deals look difficult. Varane is expected to cost £45million despite his deal ending next season. While Camavinga’s cost is yet to be determined, United are still looking at a combined outlay of £80million. That has led to United keeping cheaper alternatives such as Joachim Andersen in mind.

Sancho’s deal was definitely necessary as United lacked a right-sided attacker for a while. However, United will now have to negotiate better deals for the other targets they are looking at. Selling some players might be the way to go but they will still have to dispatch a good amount if they want their preferred targets.
