Manchester United set to include promising youngsters in their plans for pre-season

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are set to give youngsters a chance to impress during their pre-season schedule.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has proven himself willing to give youth a chance when needed. The likes of Reden Mengi, Shola Shoretire, Amad Diallo and Brandon Williams among others have all made their first-team bows under the Norwegian.

With a number of top players coming through the ranks, Solskjaer will now offer them the opportunity to prove their point during pre-season. With a number of senior stars coming off the Euros and the Copa America, it is entirely possible that Solskjaer could give the youngsters a prominent role at least at the beginning of the pre-season.

According to the report, the likes of Hannibal Mejbri, Shola Shoretire, Anthony Elanga, Will Fish, Teden Mengi, and Ethan Laird are all in contention to feature this month. Academy striker Joe Hugill is also under consideration after an impressive campaign following his move from Sunderland. The 17-year-old narrowly missed out on a first-team squad inclusion towards the end of last season.

Solskjaer and his coaches and players will return to the Aon Training Complex to commence pre-season training this month. They will kick off their pre-season preparations with a trip to Pride Park to face club legend Wayne Rooney’s Derby County on 18th July.

Plenty of opportunities

A week-long UK training camp will follow in the lead-up to our next clash against another Championship side, Queens Park Rangers at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on 24th July. This will be followed by a doubleheader at home against Premier League duo Brentford on 28th July and Everton on 7th August.

The club left a 10-day gap between the Brentford and Everon friendlies at Old Trafford amid discussions over a possible trip to Malta for an additional friendly.
