Transfer News: AC Milan keep their eyes fixated on Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Football.london), AC Milan are keen to strengthen their right-back department, with Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot on the top of their shortlist.
The Serie A giants are also interested in other players for the right-back position. Real Madrid’s Alvaro Odriozola is one such option in that area, while Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier is also under consideration, but Dalot remains as their priority.
United could use some competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka down the right-hand side. Brandon Williams is still too young and perhaps, United’s quest to give the former Crystal Palace defender someone to compete with has led them to Atletico Madrid’s front door.
Last month, a report by Sky Sports claimed Atletico were asking for around £43million in transfer fee for the 30-year-old. The former Spurs defender is yet to sign for the Red Devils as we approach the start of pre-season.
Dalot still on Milan’s wishlist
If United can keep Dalot, then he can be a viable option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Portuguese full-back can play on either flank and would be a useful member to have in the squad.
Stefano Pioli’s pursuit of the ex-FC Porto man should also be an indicator of how Dalot can be an important squad player in top clubs such as Milan and United.
If he ends up being sold, United should make sure they are fairly compensated. He still has two years left on his deal and at 22, he is at an age where he can develop and become an even better player.

Solskjaer has not kept him in his immediate plans, as evident from his loan spell at Milan last season. But if the club fails to sign a new right-back, maybe keeping Dalot is an option that would save money and effort.
