Transfer News: Real Madrid show interest in Diogo Dalot

According to transfer news from Daily Star, Real Madrid have shown a surprising interest in Manchester United youngster Diogo Dalot. There has been no approach but the Spanish giants are keeping tabs on the player and see him as someone who can rejuvenate the defence.

The Portuguese full-back spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at the San Siro, playing a part in Milan’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League. While he may not have been an automatic first choice, he made 33 appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring twice and laying on three assists.

Dalot was never a sure starter for United after Wan-Bissaka’s arrival. The English right-back is one of the best in his position defensively. He has also shown a marked improvement in his attacking efforts. With Dalot set to return now, it looks unlikely that there will any shift in dynamic.

Now, rather surprisingly, it is Real Madrid who have kept their eyes on the player. The Blancos have followed the player since his Porto days and Carlo Ancelotti is said to be pushing for him. So far, no approach has been made for him. Real already have a few options at right-back and an approach is unlikely if one isn’t sold. The new Madrid boss wants a young player like Dalot to refresh his older options in defence.

More Manchester United News:

Dalot’s contract runs until 2023 and the chances of him making it at United appear remote. Due to the duration of the remaining years, United still have some time to figure out what to do with him. He is unlikely to displace Wan-Bissaka but he does have talent. United will need to come up with a solution soon.
