Daniel Levy not keen to sell Manchester United target Harry Kane

According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Manchester United have been handed a blow in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane.

This comes after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is not ready to play ball and has informed his counterparts that the English skipper is not for sale. A pretty expected approach given the impact Kane has had on the team.

The striker has for a number of years lead Spurs from the front. While he has remained prolific, Tottenham have failed to win a single major honour during that time.

Currently 27 and in his prime, Kane appears to have had enough and is seeking a new challenge. One of the finest players in his position, Kane could waltz his way into any team of his choice.

The Red Devils and at least one other unnamed club have already made direct enquiries to Tottenham regarding Kane’s potential availability. United could very well do with a no-nonsense striker who can lead their frontline with aplomb.

The report goes on to add that Levy’s stance could be a ploy to get himself the best possible deal for the player. Kane is arguably Spurs’ best sellable asset.

The deal of the summer?

Just how much will Kane push to leave Spurs this summer remains to be seen. It is believed that a bid of £120million offer plus add-ons could seal the deal with Tottenham.

While Spurs have not refused any offers point blank, they also appear to be preparing themselves and are looking for replacements.

With money at a premium, player plus cash could be the way forward. United do have an edge over Manchester City in this aspect and could offer Jesse Lingard as a part of the deal for Kane. (h/t The Express)

Levy for his part is not keen to sell to a domestic rival. It would appear he is more pliable to sell to a foreign team. With the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain all interested, he is not without options. How United approach the deal remains to be seen.
