Manchester United fans express outrage as Ryan Giggs is charged with assault
According to the BBC, Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has been accused of assaulting two women.
He is accused of causing actual bodily harm to a woman in her 30s and common assault of a woman in her 20s in Salford last November. Giggs has also been charged with coercive or controlling behaviour.
The Welshman is bailed to appear before the Salford Magistrates’ Court on 28th April. Giggs has since revealed that he would be pleading ‘not guilty’ in court.
The Welsh manager will now miss out on leading his country at the European Championships next summer. That honour will now go to Robert Page.
A legend of the game, this is not the first time that he has been accused of something shady. He raised quite a few eyebrows after having an affair with his brother Rhodri’s wife back in 2015.
While we would like to say that everyone is innocent unless proven guilty, the news does not appear to show Giggs in good light. Fans, to their credit, are unwilling to let his status as a footballer colour what he does off the pitch.
