Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs to undergo trial at Manchester Crown Court in 2022
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs will undergo a trial at Manchester Crown Court next year for allegedly assaulting and coercively controlling his ex-girlfriend.
The date for the trial was fixed following a 15-minute hearing at Manchester Crown Court earlier today. It will now take place on January 24, 2022.
The 47-year-old is being accused of assaulting Kate Greville. He allegedly caused her actual bodily harm at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester, in November last year.
The Welshman is also said to have engaged in controlling and coercive behaviour towards her between December 2017 and November 2020. He is accused of resorting to antics such as violence, isolation, belittling, humiliation, harassment, degradation and abuse.
Giggs is also charged with the common assault of Ms Greville’s youngster sister, Emma Greville last November. He remains on conditional bail and is not allowed to get in touch with either woman.
Giggs was relieved of his duties as Wales manager after the incident came to light. He will now miss out on leading his country at the European Championships. That honour will now go to Robert Page.
It also saw him get left out of the list of players who were nominated for the Premier League Hall of Fame.

A legend of the game, this is not the first time that he has been accused of something shady. He raised quite a few eyebrows after having an affair with his brother Rhodri’s wife back in 2015.
While everyone is innocent unless proven guilty, the news does not appear to show Giggs in good light.
