Amad Diallo writes his name into Manchester United history books
According to BT Sport, Amad Diallo has earned his name in the Manchester United history books after scoring in the Europa League clash against AC Milan.
The 18-year-old joined United to much hype in January. He impressed in the Under-23s, earning a call up to the senior side last month.
Diallo started the game yesterday on the bench. An injury to Anthony Martial saw him come on at half-time. The teenager took just five minutes to ensure United took the lead with a deft header over Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The goal made Diallo Manchester United’s fourth youngest goalscorer in Europe in history. Interestingly two of the players ahead of him are still at United, namely Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.
The only other player ahead of him is footballing legend George Best. At 18 years and 243 days, Amad has, however, beaten Wayne Rooney by 97 days.
Diallo also became the youngest non-British player to find the net for the Old Trafford giants in any major European competition. It comes in just his third appearance and is hopefully just the start of things to come.
Manchester United’s fee for Diallo could rise to £37m with add-ons. If what we have seen so far is a sign of things to come, it is money well spent.
