Manchester United hold talks with Raiola regarding Gianluigi Donnarumma

Manchester United hold talks with Mino Raiola regarding Gianluigi Donnarumma

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Ian McGarry has revealed that Manchester United have held talks with Mino Raiola over his client Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The AC Milan goalkeeper is in the final few months of his contract at the San Siro. The opportunity to sign such a player on a free would be the steal of the summer.

The goalkeeper’s situation has garnered much interest. Premier League rivals Chelsea are also keen on securing the player’s services.

McGarry’s co-host, Duncan Castles, added that Donnarumma currently earns about €6m a year after deductions. The Italian international is currently seeking €10m a year to renew with Milan.

It was reported earlier that United have earmarked Donnarumma to replace David de Gea. The Spaniard is the club’s top earner by some margin and selling him will free up cap space for United to give Donnarumma what he seeks.

With Milan ready to offer only €7.5m-a-year, United could steal a march on the Serie A giants if they so choose.

The 22-year-old is already one of the best young goalkeepers in the world. He has been in goal for Milan since the age of 16 and has already amassed 237 appearances, keeping 83 clean sheets. (h/t Transfermarkt)
