Manchester United star Luke Shaw opens up on his rivalry with Bruno Fernandes
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United star, Luke Shaw has opened up the rivalry he shares with teammate Bruno Fernandes.
The left-back is enjoying a resurgent season that has seen him impress on a consistent basis. Fernandes, meanwhile, has continued from where he left off last season.
The two have been our best players this season and could yet play a major role as the season nears its business end.
Shaw looks more comfortable in the first XI this season and has also bombed forward to great effect. He has so far made six assists for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season.
“I’m loving going forward and creating for the team. I haven’t been able to talk about something like this and be sort of praised for stuff like this.”
With improved performances come renewed confidence and Shaw is currently full of it. He jokingly added that he is now back to his best, and that a challenge on Fernandes’ goal and assists tally could be on the cards.
Friendly banter
Shaw is in awe of Fernandes’ ability to make something out of nothing. More so considering he does it even when not at his best. The Englishman went on to tease the midfielder for grabbing a brace while not being at his best against Real Sociedad.
“I said to him ‘Bruno, I’ll be honest, you weren’t great [against Real Sociedad] but you scored two goals. I just don’t know how you do it!”
While every player has a role to play, Shaw admits that stats determine how a majority of the folk judge players. But it need not always reflect the truth at hand.

The decision to bring in Alex Telles last summer has proven to be an inspired choice. The Brazilian’s arrival has seen Shaw level up and play his best football since joining the club.
Hopefully, our in-form duo will make sure that we end our four-year trophy drought this year.
