Manchester United star Mason Greenwood could be left out of the England squad for Euro 2021
According to The Mirror, Manchester United star Mason Greenwood could miss out on being selected for the England squad for Euro 2021.
The 19-year-old is an excellent player, but has failed to hit the same heights as that of last season. He has so far made 33 appearances for the club, scoring four goals and assisting five more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
His numbers are not very impressive and it is fair to say there are players who have displayed better form this season.
With him facing competition at both the club and international levels, he will need to step up his game in the weeks to come. Not being able to do so could see him have to settle for a spot in the England Under-21 side this summer.
Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane are the Three Lions’ first-choice front three at the moment. With the likes of Jadon Sancho, Danny Ings and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all in fine form, it is hard to overlook them for Greenwood.
Despite being afforded opportunities, Greenwood is yet to put in a consistent run of good performances. There is no better time than now to begin.
It has not been a good season for Greenwood with regards to international duty. Greenwood and Manchester City star Phil Foden were both sent back home after being found guilty of breaching coronavirus restrictions while on England duty in Iceland.
While Foden has gone on to enjoy a brilliant season, Greenwood’s performances have been below par.

Based on merit, it is difficult to see Greenwood find himself a spot in the England squad for the Euros. Missing out might also prove to be a blessing in disguise provided it lights the fire in him to impress.
