Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire part of group of Manchester United players who make transfer plea to club hierarchy
A group of Manchester United players has pleaded to the club hierarchy for more signings. Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw have asked the management for more transfers before the end of the window, according to The Mirror.
The core of senior players has urged the club to help the team out by bringing in more players before deadline day. Players are of the opinion that United haven’t done enough to bolster the squad this summer.
United lost a lot of players this summer. Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Andreas Pereira, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata have left the club permanently. We’ve also seen other loan departures from the club.
The Manchester-based club have signed just three players as of now. Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez arrived through the doors at Old Trafford.
However, fans have been crying out for more quality in the team after last season’s disappointing finish. United seemingly needed a shake-up this summer, but it doesn’t look like the club have backed Erik ten Hag.
The Dutch manager’s first competitive game of his Old Trafford era went off to a bad start. The side lost against Brighton & Hove Albion. Anthony Martial was sidelined and Cristiano Ronaldo was kept on the bench by Ten Hag.
Christian Eriksen started as the centre-forward. Fred started as the deep-lying midfielder. Scott McTominay was given more freedom to move up front. And the players weren’t able to perform up to the mark.
The Brentford game was poor from United players as well. We lost 4-0. David de Gea had a hard time playing out from the back. It is evident that Ten Hag doesn’t have the profile of players to implement his ideas.
