Facundo Pellistri regrets not spending more time at Manchester United
According to ESPN South America (h/t Manchester Evening News), Uruguayan youngster Facundo Pellistri regrets not spending enough time at Manchester United before going out on loan in January.
The 19-year-old joined the club in the summer and is yet to make his first-team bow. But he has impressed for the Under-23 side, scoring three goals and assisting one more in eight games. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Currently on loan at Deportivo Alaves, Pellistri has got his first taste of senior football in Europe. He has made two appearances so far, both off the bench.
With the Spaniards battling relegation, an upsurge in Pellistri’s form would be a welcome boost to their attack. Despite having to leave United in search of first-team football, Pellistri is reaping the benefits of his decision.
“I am very happy despite the rapid changes, faster than I imagined. I was hoping to have a little more time in Manchester, but on the club’s side they have organised what to do with each player.”
He does regret not getting to spend more time at United. However, Pellistri believes the club has a good idea of how to develop their youngsters and have done just that.
While Pellistri’s debut against Real Sociedad was a forgettable affair, his cameo against Osasuna was far more memorable. Although Alaves lost on the night, the youngster gave an excellent account of himself.
